Programs

We are a small school, where every child can be the leader, every child can have a turn, every child can contribute to the discussion and ask questions, every child can shine.

Teachers send home to the parents detailed lesson plans a month in advance. This helps communication between parents and children – you will know what to discuss with your child each day, and make him comfortable about what he will be doing in school that day.

With our reading, phonics, writing, and math programs, our goal is to instill in the children a genuine joy of learning – with a positive attitude toward and about themselves.

And to have fun!

FINE ARTS and SCIENCE

We looked at fun pictures by Salvador Dali. After looking at a Dali-designed "melting clock" from the Dali Museum in Florida, we designed our own.

We admired beautiful impressionist paintings by Monet, and then using special chalk we colored our own water lilies and framed them.

Among the many different drums we play,
these are one of our favorites.

We observed how playing a piano key caused the hammers to tap the wires and make music.

Many colored balloons are a fun way to learn Spanish color names.

NOTE : ENRICHMENT CLASSES are given free to all our students. Learning Is Fun would never allow classes to be given to some children, but withheld from others because their parents did not “pay extra.” All our children are given the same advantages!

Art Classes are designed for the children to

  • View and discuss many reproductions of fine art
  • Develop a keen sense of observation
  • Gain appreciation of fine art among our hundreds of reproductions
  • Understand how elements are combined to create art
  • Aid in developing small motor skills
  • Create a sense of delight in their own art abilities

  • Explore playing many different instruments
  • Develop an ear for chords
  • Understand the basics of written music with our unique learning method
  • Compose their own music

EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMS

We use The Creative Curriculum as the basis for our educational practices. This system is a well-researched and tested environmentally based curriculum – one that matches our philosophy that “the overall development of a child can be dramatically enhanced with the proper environment and knowledgeable, caring adults.”

We use I Can Problem Solve (ICPS) and Raising a Thinking Child for problem solving, conflict resolution, and logical thinking.
Note: ICPS is used in most Naperville grade schools.
.
We schedule parent/teacher conferences two times a year. Our teachers are so dedicated to the children, they give the parents their HOME PHONE NUMBER and email address. We will take good care of your child!

Enrichment Curriculum for Kindergarten Success

We have been thrilled with the Enriched Kindergarten Program at Learning Is Fun Preschool! Our son has truly enjoyed everything about the class. He loves his school work, as well as time spent with friends. As parents, we have been so impressed with the academics and personalized approach. The advanced learning, and the attention focused on current kindergarten curriculum, will completely prepare him for kindergarten in the fall.  He is being challenged every day, with a curriculum presented in a no-pressure, nurturing, fun environment. He also loves the balance of enriched programs such as art, Spanish, music, science, and gym. We have been very pleased with the personal approach his teacher has provided. She has gone the extra mile and sends email updates as well as offers optional at-home learning through worksheets, counting games, writing games and site word flash cards. We have been impressed with this seamless home and school learning approach.  My son has truly thrived socially, academically and most importantly loves school. We are thankful for the team and are so happy with the decision we made a year ago to enroll him in this five day a week program!

My son has been in the 5-Day Pre-K program since the fall of 2012. He adores his teacher and loves going to school! My husband, Corey, and I have been very impressed with the teacher and her curriculum. We love the atmosphere at Learning is Fun, small class sizes (maximum of ten children) which allow for individual attention for the students. His teacher is readily available to parents for questions and concerns; I have contacted her numerous times with questions and she is quite responsive and in a very timely manner. LIF is not too big, which is nice, so the students can get to know children in the other classes as well, which allows for more socialization skills to develop. We also love the Holiday Program, the Halloween, Valentine's Day and Spring parties, which are special events for the children that are not at all preschools. It is a precious way to celebrate these holidays in a memorable and fun way for the children and for the parents, too! We couldn't be more pleased with the program, so much so that we have signed our younger son up for the program for 2013-2014!

Give Your Child An Advantage

We compared pictures by Degas, as well as a sketch of a ballerina he drew for his painting. Then we painted our own ballerina.

We played both large and small xylophones.

The piano and the bells are coordinated in their sounds.

Our friends the mice teach us chords.

We learn how to interact with others -- this is our intergenerational program.
